Berlin Motor Books and Michael Schnabl hosted a themed evening titled \u201c35 Years of the Porsche 964 RS\u201d at Lake Ammersee.<\/p>\n\n

The guest of honor for the evening was Roland Kussmaul, the developer of the 964 RS. He became world-renowned as one of the best race engineers. During his 36 years at Porsche, there was not a single race car\u2014from the 964 RS to the Carrera GT\u2014that Roland Kussmaul was not involved in. <\/p>\n\n

Testing for the 964 RS began in 1990 using the \u201cK47\u201d test vehicle. Roland Kussmaul has owned the \u201cforerunner\u201d of all 964 RS models since 1993 and brought this one-of-a-kind car to the event. <\/p>\n\n

For many Porsche enthusiasts, it was their first chance to see the 964 K47 in person. <\/p>\n\n

In an interview with Andreas Gabriel, founder of Berlin Motor Books, Roland Kussmaul spoke at length about the development of the 964 RS.<\/p>\n\n

Other guests of honor included Porsche designer Steve Murkett and Jost Capito. <\/p>\n\n

The second guest of honor, Jost Capito, was also greeted with applause by the participants.<\/p>\n\n

Starting in 1990, Jost Capito worked with Herbert Linge to establish the Carrera Cup and shared his experiences from that time. We also have him to thank for the 964 RS, as Capito approached the Porsche Executive Board at the time and advocated for the production of a 911 suitable for motorsports that could also be driven on public roads. Due to a lack of alternatives, many 964 Cup cars were converted for street use. This was, of course, frowned upon and paved the way for the 964 RS. <\/p>\n\n

Steve Murkett was also invited to attend the event as a guest of honor.<\/p>\n\n

As a young designer at Porsche, Steve Murkett was involved in the design process for the 964 and contributed his ideas. <\/p>\n\n

He brought his own 964 RS, which had previously belonged to Ursula Piech. Steve Murkett recounted the fascinating story of how he came to acquire this car. <\/p>\n\n

To mark the 10th anniversary of the FLB (Friends of Air-Cooled Boxer Engines), his 964 RS was given a very special design and had already competed in Ferdi Porsche’s GP Ice Race.<\/p>\n\n

After the interviews were over, Roland Kussmaul and Steve Murkett signed the K47 Edition Porsche 964 books.<\/p>\n\n

PORSCHE 964 \u2013 THE BOOK \u2013 EDITION KUSSMAUL K47<\/h1>\n

In February 1991, Porsche announced a true sensation to the press: the new 964 RS. The rightful successor to the legendary 1973 Carrera RS was scheduled for release in the summer of 1991. In honor of 964 RS developer Roland Kussmaul, the special edition \u201cKUSSMAUL K47\u201d is being released to mark the 35th anniversary of this icon, in a limited run of 260 copies. \u201c260\u201d as in the horsepower rating of the 964 RS. <\/p>\n
