With this slogan, Porsche advertised its new top model in 1972, which was to make history under the name Carrera RS. With the first 911 Carrera RS, Porsche achieved a true stroke of genius: the car, which actually only had to be built 500 times for homologation purposes, became an unexpected sales success. Within a very short space of time, the Carrera RS became the dream car for sports car fans par excellence. Of the originally seemingly utopian 500 units, more than three times as many were ultimately produced and sold. Production ended in the summer of 1973 after 1,580 units.

It was not until 18 years later that the legitimate successor to the Carrera RS 2.7 was presented. In an exclusive interview, legendary Porsche racing engineer Roland Kussmaul explains why it took so long. <\/span><\/p>\n

The new Carrera RS of the 964 generation became the legitimate successor to the legend. <\/span><\/p>\n

It only needed 260 hp for a top speed of 260 km\/h. Once again, more than twice as many vehicles as were actually required were sold within a very short space of time.

The Porsche 993 RS became the last classic Carrera RS.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last classic Carrera RS was presented in January 1995. Due to its attractive design, the 911 RS of the 993 generation became the most beautiful RS of all time for many nine-eleven fans. The engineers achieved a particularly harmonious synthesis of sportiness and comfort in this last air-cooled Carrera RS.
