Rolf Eden’s Mini Cooper

Rolf Eden was one of the best-known and most flamboyant figures in Berlin’s nightlife. He became famous throughout Germany as an actor, entertainer, and nightclub owner. Eden made a name for himself as the successful operator of several legendary nightclubs. The “Big Eden,” in particular, became a gathering place for celebrities and artists, turning Eden into a cult figure in West Berlin society. But his love life and his young girlfriends also became a hallmark of his persona. Rolf Eden claimed to have “made over 1,000 women happy” in his lifetime and saw himself as Germany’s last playboy.

With his extravagant lifestyle, striking appearance, love of beautiful cars, and self-assured public image, he became a fixture in the German tabloid press for decades. Rolf Eden had a fondness for British cars and drove his Rolls-Royce convertible almost every day from his villa in Berlin-Dahlem to the Roseneck in Berlin for breakfast.

Rolf Eden, who had won the Monte Carlo Rally for the first time in 1964, was also a big fan of the classic Mini Cooper. When rumors first began to circulate in 1998 that the classic Mini Cooper would soon be discontinued, Rolf Eden acted immediately. In the summer of 1998, he ordered a new Mini Cooper from the Berlin-based Mini dealer Kerstan GmbH at the Kant Garages.

He equipped his Cooper with as many luxury features as were available from Mini. In addition to Heritage leather upholstery in Cumulus Gray with red piping, he ordered the “Antracite” metallic paint finish for his Cooper.

All of Rolf Eden’s cars were registered as company vehicles under his businesses. He registered the Mini Cooper in December 1998 under his company, Büro Commerz GmbH, located on Leibnizstraße. Rolf Eden kept the Mini Cooper for over 12 years and gave it to a business associate when he was 80 years old.
