Berlin Motor Books presented the new book “Porsche Carrera RS 50 YEARS 1972-2022” at Ande Votteler in Balingen on June 25.

Book Release Event „PORSCHE CARRERA RS 50 YEARS“ in Balingen

Porsche Carrera RS collector and specialist Johan Dirickx from Belgium provided five of his vehicles for the event, which are also featured in the book.

For every Porsche fan it was a great opportunity to see parts of this unique RS collection once near Stuttgart.

Around eleven o’clock there was a round of interviews with the guests Oliver Mezger, Bernd Kahnau and Roland Kussmaul.

Oliver Mezger brought along his father Hans Mezger’s 911 Carrera 3.0.

Bernd Kahnau, Porsche project manager for the 993 to 991 generations, told us that he had already helped with the production of the Carrera RS as a student.

Roland Kussmaul reported on the highlights of his career at Porsche, which included project management of the 964 RS.

As a further highlight, Roland Kussmaul made his private Porsche 964 RS „K47“ available for the book presentation. This red RS with eye-catching details such as red-painted rims and black-painted air intakes is the “forefather” of all 964 RSs and was one of the test vehicles for the RS series.

Roland Kussmaul patiently answered the guests’ questions about the 964 RS. Furthermore, he even revealed some tips on how to increase performance, for example how to get almost 6 hp more with a slight modification of the air filter box. Afterwards, many books were signed with personal dedications.
