Book presentation: “60 Years of the 911 F Model” Part 1

The first stage of the book presentation “60 Years of the 911 F Model” took place at Motorlegenden on Lake Ammersee near Munich. Michael Schnabl welcomed the guests and presented many Porsche highlights from the model years 1965 to 1973 in his showroom loft. The guest of honour for the evening was Alois Ruf, who was accompanied by his wife Estonia and daughters Aloisa and Nathalie Ruf.

Alois Ruf presented the oldest surviving prototype of the Porsche 911 to an enthusiastic audience: the Porsche 901 “Quickblau” served as a test vehicle for Ferdinand Piëch and was sold to Hans Mezger after a short time. Mezger and Piëch jointly developed the legendary six-cylinder boxer engine for the Porsche 911.

Until 2023, the Porsche community did not know that prototype number 6 still existed. Alois Ruf restored the vehicle for the 60th anniversary of its presentation at the 1963 IAA. Many friends of the Porsche brand were able to see this fascinating vehicle in person for the first time that evening.

Among the guests of honour was Jürgen Lewandowski, who contributed to the book marking the 60th anniversary of the F series with the chapter ‘Porsche 912 – the unloved saviour’.

Vlasta Hatter, former Porsche designer at Colour & Trim, also attended the event at Lake Ammersee. Together with Toni Lapine, she had designed, among other things, the now legendary “Pascha Velour” upholstery design. Porsche 993 designer Tony Hatter and project manager Bernd Kahnau were also guests at the event.
