Porsche Calendar 2023: The Carrera RS calendar for the classic generations “Porsche Carrera RS AIR-COOLED 2023”.
The Porsche 911 calendar for the air-cooled Carrera RS cars.
“Only 500 men will drive it”-this was the slogan Porsche used to advertise its new top model in 1972, which was to make history under the name Carrera RS. The first 911 RS clearly eclipsed everything that had gone before. It reached 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds and its top speed ended at a then unbelievable 245 km/h. To this day, the first nine-eleven, which was allowed to wear a front and rear spoiler as standard, remains a legend. Our calendar page for January shows the Carrera RS 2.7 in the Touring version.
In November 1972, the racing version of the Carrera RS was ready. This was launched in a small series at the beginning of 1973 and was given the code M491. The RSR 2.8 had a kerb weight of just 900 kg. The highlight of the RSR was the engine. It received the code 911/72 and grew to 2,807 cc with nikasil-coated cylinders and taller 92-mm pistons. With an increased compression ratio of 10.5 : 1, the engine produced 300 hp. The 911 Carrera RSR cost 59,000DM and was produced in a run of 55 units. Our calendar page for February shows the fascinating 911 RSR 2.8 in signal yellow.
Among the three different variants of the Carrera RS 2.7, the sports version was a very special highlight. Thanks to consistent lightweight construction and the use of light metals, it was possible to significantly reduce the weight of the sport version of the Carrera RS once again. While the somewhat more comfortable 911 Carrera RS Touring had a kerb weight of 1,075 kg, the RS 2.7 Sport with the additional code M471 saved a further 115 kg, as the equipment was kept extremely spartan. Our calendar page for March shows the sports version in the attractive combination of white and green.
