The Porsche 993 Carrera RS was available in the 1995 and 1996 model years and was first listed in the 2-1995 price list at DM 147,900. The 993 RS became one of the most beautiful and harmonious RS models ever produced for the 911.

For the normal 993 Carrera Coupé, exactly 6 standard colours were available in 1995: Black, Guards Red, Grand Prix White, Riviera Blue, Amaranth Violet and Speed Yellow. Customers also had the option of choosing from 6 metallic colours at extra cost: Polar Silver Metallic, Iris Blue Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Aventurine Green Metallic, Slate Grey Metallic and Black Metallic.
However, the colour selection for the 911 Carrera RS 3.8 of the 993 generation was significantly smaller in the 1995 and 1996 model years. Customers could choose from 5 standard colours. The colours Black, Riviera blue, Indian Red, Grand Prix White and Speed Yellow were available.

As with the Porsche 964 RS America from the 1993 model year, two metallic colours were also available for an extra charge of DM 1875. These were the colours Midnight Blue metallic and Polar Silver metallic.

A large proportion of Porsche customers were very satisfied with the selection of seven colours. The Porsche designers at Colour & Trim were particularly successful with the Riviera Blue colour, which was an excellent match for the 993 RS. But all the other available colours were also very harmonious. Due to the convincing colour selection, there were only relatively few paint-to-sample finishes.
